The first thing I did upon waking up was call Expedia. Our flight home is a totally sucky one, with one stop on another island first, and then going from that island to Chicago, IL. Then from Chicago we return to Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, United changed the last leg of the trip and we now have a 4 hour layover in Chicago, which is totally craptacular. This was due to “air traffic” or something. I called up Expedia and the lady called United for me. I got some BS about how United might possibly add an extra flight tomorrow at an earlier time, but obviously this did not happen.

It’s our last full day here in Maui, and tomorrow afternoon we board a plane back to Pittsburgh. The day started off with breakfast at CJ’s Deli and Diner. Bunky had some pancakes and I had a ham and cheese omelet. The food was ok, but nothing spectacular; mostly we ate there because it was near the UPS store. We mailed back Bunky’s wedding dress and it was only $18 to ship! It cost over $50 to get it out to Hawaii… After breakfast we checked out the Lahaina Cannery Mall. The LCM was pretty pathetic, and we breezed through it in about 20 minutes. We did pick up a few more kitschy souvenirs, though.

Today was a relaxing day, as we finally got to spend some time at the pool and beach. We had been super-careful to stay out of the sun prior to the wedding, so we really let loose and baked today (with sunscreen on, of course). The weather was perfect outside, and it was very relaxing. We checked out the jacuzzi for a little bit, and even made sand castles on the beach (it was condemned due to water damage, unfortunately).

It’s Wedding Day! Yesterday was a busy, exhausting, but wonderful day. We had to wake up at 5:30 AM, as Bunky had an early appointment with her hair/makeup person. This process took a really long time, and we were really scrambling to make it to Kapalua Bay in time. I didn’t even get breakfast! I tried out my Dermablend makeup for the first time. That stuff is crazy effective! I was able to completely cover the area of my pseudo-scar. It felt like using Photoshop, except in real life.

This was the first day we had the house cleaning staff tidy up the room. I wore my goofy hat to protect my face, but it ended up being very overcast and so I took the hat off in the afternoon. Anyway, we started the day off with a giant breakfast at Longhi’s. I had “Longhi-style” French Toast which was completely indistinguishable from normal fancy French Toast but very tasty. Bunky had a stack of fluffy pancakes. Breakfast was delicious and filling, and the view of the ocean from Front Street was wonderful.

Went to sleep last night at 8:00 PM local time, woke up at 4:45 AM standard time. It’s all dark, and nothing is open! The doorway in the room has kinda crappy sound-proofing, so last night I could hear kids running in their flip flops outside. I think we might have to try for a 9:00 PM sleep time and a 6:00 AM wakeup from now on. I got some sorta-sunrise pictures, but the mountain and its clouds blocked off most of the sun. Quite a few people wake up early to work out, and even before 6:00 AM there were people running along the beach or working out in the gym. Bunky and I had breakfast in the hotel next to the koi pond. It was beautiful and my blueberry muffin was delicious; of course everything was jacked way up in price, though.
