Oh man, this picture made me so sad I couldn’t continue working on it very long. It’s really in extreme speed sketch form (probably spent less than an hour on the actual drawing), and you can still see my ugly stick figure lines with the circle joints. This is poor Rika Harada from Honey and Clover, which is looking more and more like it will be one of my favorite anime series of the last 10 years. Nothing was so crushing as episode 15, when Rika is having a comforting dream of being with her deceased husband only to wake up and see Mayama holding her hand instead.
And yet, Mayama seems like such a good guy. I loved when he grabbed the elevator as Yoru wo Kakeru played, and the rain came pouring down. Hopefully Mayama can help fill Rika’s void T__T. If you haven’t seen this series, you really should. Once the anime finishes, I’m going to see about finding the manga!
I think the next topic is “Wisdom”, but I’m pretty stumped on that one.

Mwahahahaha! This one is a late, as usual, but actually shows some continuity with the Lunamaria piece I did. While perhaps not as polished, I couldn’t really see myself diligently outlining to get the hair right. If ever there was a time when planning out the piece with shapes helped (especially ovals for the head), this was it. However, because I don’t completely hate Shinn (he’s like a really dumb younger brother), I spared him the comb-over. Just thinking about that puts me in a happy mood =D. That’s two Gundam Seed Destiny pics now!
Next one is “Empty” followed by “Wisdom”. I have something in mind for the first, but haven’t gotten around to “Wisdom” yet.

Hmm, not much to say about this one, except that it’s late. On these hot, humid summer days, it’s hard to find the energy to do much but laze away under a tree. Note my pathetic attempts at quick and easy grass (not that it would have come out much better if I spent more time on it).

The adventure into bishie-hotness continues, as I attempted to find just what makes an ordinary guy into a bishounen. I think it’s the face, and especially the hair. I usually do the hard part of poses first, and after finishing the body, the picture was kinda bleh (I think the shoulders are off). However, once I started doing the lines for the hair, it all started coming together! I told ADscion it was like a bishie-infusion! I still think the body is a bit off, and I had a lot of trouble with the chest muscles. Still, I’m kinda pleased with how this came out, since I’ve never really done anything like this. This is Aikawa Kazuhiko of the Mizuho basketball team (from Dear Boys). I toned down the fluffiness of his hair a bit, too. I figure if you’re sweating, it should bring your hair under control at least a little bit…

First off, my apologies to anyone who clicked on the above thumb thinking there would be some hot mermaid fanservice. I swear I didn’t try to make the thumbnail misleading (of course I’m lying). So, for those of you who don’t know, this is Major Alex Louis Armstrong, “The Strong Arm Alchemist,” from Full Metal Alchemist. I have no idea why I chose this idea for the theme, but I was extremely ambivalent about the whole thing. On the one hand, it was pretty interesting and new (stylistically), and on the other hand, I was completely crying on the inside. At one point, I was so amazed at the rippling muscles that I actually dropped my stylus in shock, and had to look under my chair for it T__T. I was going to add a little Al-submarine, but I couldn’t bear to work on this picture any longer. I’m aware that there are quite a few mistakes in the anatomy, and for once I don’t even care. Well, enjoy this horror, and remember why human alchemy is forbidden.
The worst was looking up pictures of body builders and mermen on Google for references. So shameful T_T …

After last week’s ambitious picture ^^, I took it kinda easy on this one. Of course School Rumble fans will recognize Imadori “The Hummingbird” Kyousuke, one of the Five Elite Tigers. Imadori’s hair actually took a surprisingly long time for something so messy, but it was fun drawing that stupid expression he always has. At the same time, I felt strangely annoyed as I was putting the finishing touches on those sleepy eyes and that goofy mouth, but that’s just the effect Imadori has on people. This was all I could think of for this week’s theme, although after the banana incident in episode 21, I think Imadori deserves some kind of recognition. Poor Mikoto!
