It’s All About the Benjamins, Baby

Autobots, roll out!
Last month I ordered the Stokke Sleepi from The Land of Nod for little Flipper. Reviews have generally praised the Sleepi as a great crib, albeit an expensive one. Our main reason for choosing the Sleepi was the fact that all the reviews really recommended it as a great crib for couples with limited space (e.g. us). We had to order it online, of course, because the espresso colored Sleepi (which matches our espresso colored bedroom furniture) was a Land of Nod exclusive. This meant we had to buy the whole bassinet and crib package, and it cost $999. At least the shipping was free.
Multiple reviews mentioned that the Sleepi is a pain to put together, but this is only partially true. It's actually very easy to put together; however the picture-only instructions are borderline terrible. Seeing photos of the assembled product online ended up being more helpful in some cases than the drawn illustrations. What made it especially hard was that many of the screws looked similar, but were packaged oddly. For instance, the screws that were packaged with the wheels were not the screws that attached the wheels to the crib. Instead, the scews packaged with the wheels were the screws that held the piece of wood (that was attached to the wheels by other screws) to the crib. Eventually, however, I got the puzzle put together, and I got it all right on the first time. One thing that really stood out during the construction phase was the high quality of the Sleepi's materials. Everything was very sturdy and fit together perfectly.
Things got even better yesterday, when Bunky informed me that the Sleepi had just gone on sale. It was now only $799, and so I called up customer service to get a price adjustment. Normally the vendor's price adjustment period is only 2 weeks, and it had been about 3.5 weeks since I bought it. However, either I was very persuasive or the vendor realized that I could simply return the crib (return window is 1 month) and buy it again if they didn't agree to my demands. Regardless of the reason, I got the $200 back, which made the purchase that much better.
We bought the crib early to train the cats not to jump into it, but so far neither one seems interested in hopping into something that looks like a cage. Instead, they like to hide behind it, because they think that they can see me through the bars without me seeing them.
