Jealous yet?
I’ve been on the BiPAP for over a month, and it’s been glorious. As I mentioned before, the doctor ended up recommending the exact model that I had my eye on, the BiPAP Auto M Series with Bi-Flex. It’s got a ton of cool features, but really the only one I use is Ramp, so that I can go to sleep with a lower pressure on and then grind sleep exp in my… sleep.

Bind on pickup, one socket
I figure the humidifier section will be useful come winter, but when I used it on 1 and 2, it really bothered me. It made the inside of the mask too humid, so I eventually just turned it off. The BiFlex button is fairly useless, because I don’t understand why you would change it regularly. It came set on the highest comfort level, so I just leave it like that. The sole purpose of the button is to trick me into pressing it when I really mean to push Ramp. The unit also has a card reader so the insurance company can spy on me.

The mask is fairly comfortable but it has to be washed weekly. This is annoying because only the bottom two straps snap on, while the top two have to be adjusted after you’re done washing. So just when you finally get the mask fitting perfectly, it’s time to wash the mask again and then you have to readjust the straps. At first I would take the mask off in the middle of the night (while semi-asleep), but lately I’ve been good about keeping the mask on for the whole night.
The machine has really given me a ton of energy, and I can’t imagine going back to life without it. Yeah, the mask is a little annoying, but I am getting more and more used to it. I no longer snore, since opening my mouth causes my breath to get sucked away (weird and unpleasant) when the mask is on, and the machine is surprisingly quiet (and almost silent in Ramp mode). I figure I have just enough time to get used to getting awesome sleep before the baby comes and shatters my sleep schedule.
