Full Moon Sway
Happy Halloween everyone. Last week I finally upgraded my cell phone from the venerable RAZR to a Samsung Sway. I’d been considering some other phones but all ended up being too expensive for me because I don’t use any of the special phone features that much. I was just looking for small form factor, a decent UI, and a pleasant appearance at a reasonable price.
So far I really like the Sway, especially the slim form-factor. Obviously at the lower price levels you have to give up some things, so the phone is not perfect. The major knocks against the Sway are the lack of 3G EV-DO support and the proprietary jacks. I don’t browse or download anything on the phone so the lack of 3G EV-DO doesn’t bother me at all. Maybe once that stuff is free and/or faster I will care. As for the jacks issue, I agree that the adaptor for 3.5mm jack is really lame, but I never use headphones with my phone anyway. Plus, you can’t really download songs quickly to the phone (ah ha, so the lack of 3G EV-DO is a feature!) so you won’t be listening to much music on the Sway anyway.
Good:
- At a trim 4.15″ x 1.96″ x 0.47″ and 3.56 oz, the Sway is narrower and thinner than the RAZR (3.9″ x 2.1″ x 0.54″ and 4.41 oz).
- I like having the big screen on the front, and I can check most of my messages and such without having to open the phone.
- The vibrate is quieter, and yet more effective somehow. Perhaps the Sway vibrates more evenly? All I know is that I notice the Sway’s vibrate more often than I do the RAZR’s, and yet the Sway’s vibrate makes a fraction of the noise.
- The UI is so much better, and there are a lot more options.
- Battery life is much better, though the RAZR’s short battery life could be because the battery was over 2 years old.
Bad:
- Some people have told me the Sway picks up more background noise on calls.
- Opening the phone takes some getting used to, as there is no grip. You are best off putting your thumb right on the nice screen and sliding it open, since using the buttons usually accidentally brings up a menu/feature.
- You cannot set the phone on vibrate and still have a sound alarm. This is not the biggest deal, but I have to remember to turn my ringtone volume up to high every night since I use my phone as my alarm clock.
- Charger doesn’t fold up, although it is smaller than the RAZR’s charger.
- Re-entering contacts is so annoying.
- Default ringtones are surprisingly crappy and strange (then again my phone is on vibrate most of the time (that I am awake).
- I like the skinning options, but I wish there were more.

Gently in the niiiiggghttt of one fiiinee daaayyy!!!… (hope thats the same Full Moon Sway you’re talking about and not some Frank Sinatra reference or something
)
My phone just recently turned 2 years old, and I’m considering something that is text-message heavy to replace it. I’ve been eye-ballin the T-Mobile G1, but like many others, I think I’ll wait for the G2
… If I had the money for the G1, I would gladly buy it. Oh, and a phone with a Micro SD slot is a necessity!
Speaking of music, hows the Zune going? Find any nearby wireless Zuners? =3
Why, you can just not have friends like me and… and… *stays home NOT trick or treating :(* (oh, and Happy Halloween :D)
You could also use glasses.
…BUT I ALREADY HAVE GLASSES!!!… all I don’t have… ▼ Show
(and not a bad pun Chryzle, especially when I mentioned “text-message”, “eye-ballin”, and the “G” in “G1″ could be replaced with Glasses… and the statement “You could also use glasses.” might also be a hidden diss, like sayin’ “eww, the T-Mobile G1 is FUGLY!! GO GET SUM GLASSES!!!” You sure do know how to work a man, Chrisky Cheeks! =3) (no, not Krusty Cheeks, Christy, as in “ca-ching, ca-ching, BLING BLING BLING!!!” wow, is Chrisky even a word?… why am I talking to myself?… who am I?)
People with glasses don’t need contacts.
…wow… how did I not see that? *BA DUM PSH* (… no seriously, you had me there! There are still things I can learn from you Chris =3)
Have a nice slowpoke.jpg.
Slowpoke is actually my favorite Pokemon (no lie, even before the whole meme of it), the next being Digglet (even before I learned of the sexual references it contained :3)
On topic of actual contacts for the eyes, I never found them a problem to put on, I just prefer glasses because I can pull off (hurr hurr) a good nerd-with-glasses/hunk-without-them trick =3 All I need is… the body
and probably the personality.
I can do that with my contacts.
mmm, you can say that again ^_~
(… I swear, you better not say that again)

F1 is on the upper left.
and FU is the button you press with your two index fingers (assuming you use the QWERTY keyboard correctly). The U button is right above J, which should remind you of me, the Notoriously White-Boy Gangsta Jesus159159159, and you don’t even need glasses to find F because theres a bump right on it.
My not keyboard isn’t so sticky that I’d need two fingers to press the any key. Fangs but no fangs. Insteading of timing your waste, why don’t you go and vote a round? I don’t even have that right nor left.
hmm, looks like you’ve stump me again Chris… are you talking about voting in the presidential election (because I believe I’ve already stated that this will be my first time voting, and that I’m most definitely voting!… okay, maybe I didn’t specifically mention I was going to vote, but you get ma drift), or “voting a round” here so I can follow in my Masters footsteps to become a punstar!? Either way, Hi-Mi-Tsu! ^_~
(and you’re really stuck on making fun of my whole reverse-word lingo thing, where in the Soul Eater 28-29 post in which I finally revealed that some of my puns never made sense, but that was their real intention…. sooo, heres this vid again
