Best Olympic Story

This is what martial arts are all about.

A Cuban taekwondo athlete and his coach were banned for life after Angel Matos kicked the referee in the face following his bronze-medal match disqualification.

Banned for being too awesome that is. The picture really highlights the awesomeness of the situation. If that judge was any good he would have dodged the kick. Actually, that would have been even more hilarious if the judge dodged it and knocked the guy out. In the slide show, you can clearly see Matos hurt, then arguing, then nailing the judge. Judge obviously thought Matos was gonna go body, but Matos elevated the kick at the key moment to avoid the ill-advised pseudo-x-block.

Matos angrily questioned the call, pushed a judge, then pushed and kicked referee Chakir Chelbat of Sweden. Matos then spat on the floor and was escorted out.

Damn you Swedes and your Ikea furniture!

The best part is that his opponent was running around celebrating with his arms up during the entire time :)

  2. Kabitzin says:

His opponent should have jump kicked Matos in the back!

    BONUS POINTS!

LOL, did anyone catch the 2nd paragraph in that article?

“We didn’t expect anything like what you have witnessed to occur,” said WTF secretary general Yang Jin-suk

    WTF indeed :D

  4. Hung says:

I wish the ref would’ve countered or something. How cool would it be if the ref won the match through some weird process and ended up getting the medal?

  5. Kabitzin says:

That brings up the question: Since Matos beat the judge, does Matos get to be the judge for the next match? It’s only fair…

Whats even more kick ass is his name “Angel Matos”. It almost sounds like “Angel Matas” and can be interpreted as “Angel Kills” or… “THE ANGEL KILLER” =3… I do feel abit sorry for the ref though :(
