Olympic Spirt

I saw this today:

Dzhakhon Kurbanov’s bout with Kazakhstan’s Yerkebulan Shynaliyev was stopped with 17 seconds left in the third round when Kurbanov apparently bit Shynaliyev during a clinch.

Shynaliyev, who angrily showed the blood on his shoulder to the referee, led 12-6 at the time. Kurbanov had been warned multiple times for shoving and holding his opponent.

Don’t they wear mouthpieces? How did he even bite the other guy? He probably would have had to use his lower teeth only. This story boggles the mind.

Another confusing story I saw was this Korean guy being stripped of Silver in pistol shooting for doping. My first thought was, Why do you need to dope in an event where you stand still and fire off a few shots from a weapon with low recoil? Turns out he took something for his shaky hands and nerves. Unsurprisingly, no one in North Korea realizes that the shooter was stripped of his medals.

Kurbanov, who was trailing 12-6 at the time, apparently bit Shynaliyev during a clinch, leading the referee to stop the bout. Baker said doctors believe Kurbanov didn’t draw blood, and that the blood seen on Shynaliyev’s shoulder might have been from a cut on Kurbanov’s face.

Kurbanov still had his mouthpiece in his mouth when he bit Shynaliyev, who clinched a medal with the victory and advanced to Friday’s semifinals.

Did I call it or what? Biter-guy got no further sanctions.

I think Solid Snake should be stripped of something for doping on Diazepam for all of his sniper battles!
