Special Fees

So I got a letter from a collection agency yesterday, telling me to pay up or they’d bust my kneecaps. The odd thing was, the overdrafted account was a bank account I closed 2 years ago when I moved to Pittsburgh (50 miles away from the nearest CancelledBank branch). It turns out, I was assessed 2 dormancy charges of $5, and then my account went negative. This let the bank assess me a $40 overdraft fee as well. So basically, I got charged $50 for not using my account because I thought it was closed. Fantastic, thanks! Fortunately, a call to the bank seems to have straightened everything out, even if they did get to keep my $8 or whatever that was left in the account before. The crappy part is that I have to watch out to make sure this doesn’t happen again and also to verify that this doesn’t affect my credit score.

The collection agency was called A.R.M. which I thought was funny, but only because I didn’t really owe any money.

So how did they track you down!?

They got mad collection agency skillz, that’s how. Collection agents don’t sleep, they wait.

That happened to me once, but they didn’t let me off the hook like your bank. Instead, they charged me freakin’ insane interest accrued over like 3 years as well. That is like a kick to the nuts while you are already down on the ground.

The idea of charging you interest for not using your own money boggles my mind and makes me angry that I didn’t think of the idea first.

I got called once also because I moved after college and forgot to tell one of my credit card company. So they couldn’t send me a bill. I think I owed them 20 bucks and a collection agency called me. Actually they were really polite about it but I just remembered they were being really insistent that I paid right there on the phone. Really forceful about it and it made an impression on me haha.

But I think in your case, that is all your bank’s fault.

p.s. When I tried to submit without a email, it just takes me to an 404 page. shouldn’t it stop me from submitting? :D

Hmm that is odd, it should stop you from submitting. I wonder if this theme doesn’t take the rule into account.
