Really Cheap Office 2007 Ultimate

From Lifehacker:

Microsoft Office Ultimate, which retails for $680, is available to students for only $60 until May 16th. But if you can snag a .edu address, you too can cash in on the deal.

Hmm, I am tempted, since getting two licenses (one for a portable machine, one for a non-portable) for $60 is a good deal. I got Office 2007 for “free” for being an MBA student, but I don’t know if that is a dual license. If not, this offer looks pretty good.

Interestingly, the sales are limited to one per .edu email address. You are really just buying the product key, and I hear if you ask for a disc, you get some an unlabled disc. However, since I am at the grad program, I technically have two .edu email addresses (and then there is the Cornell email address)…

Or you can ask Catnipped to bring you some copies of Office Ultimate from the MS Corporate Store when you come for VO4 :)

I don’t have an XBox360 though (just kidding around).

I..ITS A TRAP!!! Look closely at the “InfoPath 2007″ icon when you hover over it (on the page that you provided) Very pixilated fishy if you ask me! Also, looks like someone didn’t properly photoshop the “Groove 2007″ text, for it has white-out evidence all over it! And lets not leave out that the guy to the left has a SHADOW CLONE BONER!!! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!! XD (of course, jk-ing also… wish I had an XBox360 :( its tough being a fanboy…)

I like how Microsoft is calling their deal “the ultimate steal.” Wouldn’t they want to avoid comparisons to actually stealing the software (which is probably what a lot of college students do)?

Me? I can get Office 2007 for $47 at the U-M Computer Showcase.

Why don’t you just use OpenOffice? Microsoft would even benefit if you pirated their software. That’s how they got their monopoly in the first place. It’s all about “lock in”.

I actually do use OO right now, but I like Office 2007. I found the previous version of Office to be not-much-better than OO, but I liked the changes MS made.
