Giants Win

Bunky and I watched the Super Bowl last night. Neither of us are huge football fans, but I felt an obligation to cheer for the Giants, since they’re my hometown team. We tuned in just before the halftime show, to see Tom Petty give a pretty good (but very conservative) performance. Of course the songs all turned out to be pretty apt.

It wasn’t too bad for most of third quarter, since a low scoring game favored the Giants, and Tom Brady was just getting killed by the Giants’ defensive line. I don’t know how anyone can blame Brady for the loss, especially after he engineered that effortless drive down the field, late in the fourth. I thought the game was pretty much done, and those third downs were almost too much for Bunky to handle. However, it really was great watching (live and in HD) Eli’s legendary scramble to hit David Tyree for that miracle pass. It’s still amazing to me that Manning was not sacked that play, and that was an incredible catch. I felt pretty bad for Brady who stepped it up in crunch time (after being plastered in the turf for most of the game), only to be let down by his defense and given about 30 seconds to try and come up with a touchdown.

Sydney watched most of the third quarter with me, but the pressure got to be too much for him and he left. Toby took his spot, and enjoyed the rest of the exciting game. This was Toby’s first Super Bowl.

I know..that game was so exciting! I rooted for the Giants because they’re the NY team and the Mannings are from my part of the U.S. And I always root for the underdog.

Poor Tom Brady. But I’m sure he found consolation in the arms of his supermodel girlfriend…
