More Like Ligers

I read this interesting article about a Princeton student who sent himself death threats and beat himself up. He also sent the threats to his friends. Why…?

Nava claimed to have been assaulted Friday by two men off campus, police said. But he later confessed that scrapes and scratches on his face were self-inflicted, and that the threats were his work, too, said Detective Sgt. Ernie Silagyi.

So did he take a dive into a sidewalk? Run into some thick shrubs? Nope, he used a brick wall and a bottle. I should mention that it was an Orangina bottle, which makes the story that much funnier.

Nava, a 23-year-old junior politics major from Bedford, Texas, found himself at the center of one campus controversy recently when he wrote a column for the student newspaper criticizing the school for giving out free condoms, which he said encouraged a dangerous “hook-up culture.”

I hate these kinds of arguments. It is like arguing that seat belts encourage a “speeding culture.” Also, this was probably the first clue that the threats were fake. Who even reads those student newspapers, let alone gets mad enough to write something to the author? Please, unless you are actively stealing pictures from someone else, I doubt anyone cares what you wrote for your dumb student paper. Have fun meeting the JA though.

I think for the encore, he should pretend that he was a homicide victim. At least this way, he wouldn’t have to deal with nosy investigators.
