Gotta Be Safe
WTF, took the car to get inspected and was told that the car did not pass inspection. Um, this car is only about 2 years old, what could possibly be wrong with it? The answer: one of the tiny (like seriously 2″x1″) reflectors on the side is cracked. How does that in any way impact if my car is safe to drive?! They tell me that it will cost ~$30-40 to fix and then the car will pass. I feel like they are holding my car hostage. Damn you Pep Boys!

Those mechanics do that all the time in states that require some sort of inspection. Sometimes they won’t even really fix the problem (if it’s something not readily visible), so you’re essentially just paying them to give you a “pass” rating.
