Bad Morning
We’re coming up on some deadlines today, so this week at work has been kind of crappy. I came in this morning, and my manager was like “I need to speak with you.” He had a really disturbed look on his face, and he was carrying a thick folder. I was pretty sure I hadn’t done anything that warranted immediate termination, but it sure didn’t look good. However, he then informed me that a coworker in our small team had passed away yesterday. No details were given, but it was really a huge shock. He was one of the newer members, but probably also one of the nicest and most energetic guys in the company. This is the first time I’ve experienced this in the workplace, and I’m not sure how to describe the feeling. I don’t think it’s even really sunk in yet.

oh that sucks
Did you know him very well? This is always shock because people never expect it to happen in real life even though you see it on tv all the time.
I have this irrational fear when I answer telephones too, that its gonna be the police telling me someone I know passed away or something.

oh man. This is the second such news I’ve heard in recent weeks.
My condolences to your team and his family. Must have hit home pretty hard when it’s this personal.
