Damnit, we were just the victim of a KS, that is to say a kitten-steal.
I am sorry but the lady that was going to take the male decided she would like to keep the female after all. The male is so darn cute if you saw him you would love him.
WTFWTF is that? This was sent several hours after we had confirmed her email about picking the kitten up this weekend. All I can do is hope that their kitten is naughty and that we dodged a bullet. We’re all pretty disappointed with how this turned out, and we won’t be doing any business with this breeder.
Bunky and I were pretty resigned to not getting a new kitten from the breeder we picked out. Breeder Lady had been trying to get us to accept a male, and we were holding firm. Breeder Lady planned to take the latest litter to the vet to have the genders checked (as she had been wrong before) and said she’d let us know what happened. I don’t think any of us were expecting there to be any females.
Well, we got an email last night saying that the breeder had one seal-point female kitten, which is just what Bunky wanted! We’re hoping to make arrangements to pick the new kitten up this weekend. Of course there are a few complications:
- Breeder Lady is like 3.5+ hours away… She said she would meet us almost halfway though (not yet confirmed), which would be really nice.
- We have to move on Monday upstairs to a 2 BR condo for 1.5-2 weeks. We’re getting the floors redone to deal with noise issues. While the carpet will be untouched, the tiles in the kitchen, bathroom, and closets will be replaced (upgraded to a nicer surface, free of charge).
- The temporary move will be annoying, but it may actually be helpful for the kitten. We only have a 1 BR, so this will allow us to easily block off a room just for the little kitten while Sydney gets used to her smell. Sydney’s been tolerant of dogs in the past, so we are hoping he will be fine after a week or two.
I plan to not make the same mistake I made with Sydney as a kitten, and I will be using the tripod to take pictures of the new kitten. A lot of Sydney’s baby pictures are kinda blurry. Still no Canon S5 IS =(.
Went to get Sydney his yearly shots. Sydney, while not at all fat (according to the vet), is now 17.5 pounds. WTF, next cat definitely needs to be female. Also, whatever we fed Sydney as a kitten cannot be fed to the next cat.
I got overly excited about tags, and so on a whim I upgraded to a beta. Nothing looks different, except that there is a single line below the post area for tags. While I am glad that the page didn’t blow up and that the theme didn’t break, I guess I will have to wait for some tag management plugins to take advantage of the hooks and such that have been added on the backend.
Edit: Haha, of course after I go to publish this post, I get SQL errors from the ELA plugin. Oh well, I haven’t even enabled it on this site yet, and have been kinda disappointed by their slow update cycle. I mean, the categories can’t even be sorted alphabetically…
I knew it was going to rain, but I didn’t know it was going to pour. Halfway through my walk to work, my raincoat was overwhelmed by a sudden downpour and I got completely soaked. As much as I enjoy sitting in wet clothes for 12 hours (class today) and smelling like wet wool pants, I decided to take drastic action. And so I took my pants off.
Just kidding. But the truth is not much less humiliating. I have this craptastic lamp at my desk. It’s a halogen lamp I believe, and it puts off a lot of heat. During the summer, whenever my office-mate turned the A/C on too high, I would turn on my lamp to balance out the effect (my side of the room would be cold, but his would still be kinda warm). So right now, I am sitting with my lamp hovering just above my thigh. My desk is almost like a cubicle, and so you can’t see me unless you are standing right next to me. I’ve got a wad of paper towels protecting my leg from being completely scorched, but it’s quite warm. My left thigh is not yet dry, but my self-respect has just about evaporated.
Upgraded to the latest version of Wordpress. Cleaned up the database. The current theme is just a placeholder.
