As the BIOS does not have an option to try SATA as IDE (rats!) and nothing else is working, I am going to try some Hard Drive Judo. I.E. I am going to try to use Microsoft against itself.
What’s that? Fight poison with poison? What a brilliant doctor!
Because I learned everything I know about PC troubleshooting from Iron Monkey, when I get home, I’m going to try Velius’ solution of simply formatting the SATA drive using Bunky’s computer. See, Vista (supposedly) inherently supports SATA. Theoretically, I should be able to just plug in the second SATA drive in and format it from her new Dell. Once the drive is formatted, I should then be able to install Window’s XP with no problems. Here’s to hoping it will work.
