Action!

Woo, rearranged my action bars on Rozamystica with Bongos. Here’s a quickie screenshot. It took a while to get everything to look right, especially since I had to stop in the middle, go to karate, and then come back and try to figure out where I’d left off. At one point I so badly messed up how the action bars and stance switching worked, that I had to delete my Bongos settings for Rozamystica and start over. However, this time it all made sense, and I was able to put something together that worked.

How do I know it worked? Because later that night I got into an abbreviated UBRS run with some old mates from Guild2, and we downed General Drakkisath like he was nothing. Even better, the Draconian Deflector finally dropped, and as the lone warrior it was all mine for the taking. Woo hoo, 400 Defense at last!!! It was a bit rough in the beginning since I couldn’t find any of my shouts, but by the end everything worked out.

What I had to do for Bongos to work was display all 10 of the action bars (all 120 buttons). What is confusing is that the default settings for stance switching replace action bar 1 with what you had for each of your three stances. What wasn’t immediately clear was that action bar 7 was balanced stance’s bar, action bar 8 was defensive stance’s bar, and action bar 9 was berserker stance’s bar. Once I figured that out, it was just a matter of hiding the bars I didn’t need (I hid bars 7-9, as I don’t need to see them when I’m not using them), and putting the buttons I did need on the remaining bars. Everything else was simple to move around, and I shrunk my bag bar and experience bar, made them vertical, and put them on the right side. It’s amazing how much more of the screen I can see now, and everything just looks so much cleaner.

I also replaced Titan Panel with FuBar. FuBar is not quite as nice looking (I need to find a font and texture pack), but is much more easily customizable. I do miss the rider plugin to switch riding gear automatically (I’m sure I can find a replacement), and the loot type plugin was broken with the latest upgrade, but overall I think I like FuBar better. I’m really pleased with how all the changes went, even if I did have to spend all of last night configuring action bars (missing out on the Redoubt Cloak!). I want to get a chat mod next, as the default chat ui leaves much to be desired.

Unfortunately I still have to reconfigure the action bars and settings for all my other characters, and that’s not going to be fun…
