Finished Firefly
I finally watched the last episode of the Firefly series, and I can’t believe it’s over. The show was really starting to hit its stride, and I would have been all over a second season. Spoilerish discussion follows
- The effects on the show were badass! Sure I watched the whole thing on an iPod, but the visuals were stunning, and the vision of the universe was so artistic. I really appreciated the lack of aliens (aside from the cow fetus) in this series.
- OMG the Mandarin was soooooo bad in the series, although I appreciated where they were going with it. I couldn’t understand what they were trying to say half the time, but at least the actors made a good effort. In the specials portion, the part with the translator was really entertaining. How great is your job when you get paid to translate things like “Baboon’s ass” for a TV show?
- I laughed out loud when I saw that the whore Nandi was played by the same actress who played Julie Cooper on the O.C. Also inspiring was finding out that both Tom and Carl (husbands in Desperate Housewives) are members of the Alliance!
- Seeing everyone out of costume in the specials portion was really weird. Seeing their glamour shots was even weirder.
- The only character in the crew that I really didn’t like was River. She just annoyed me the whole time, although I understand her importance to the plot. I think the only moments that I enjoyed with River were the Shepard-hair incident and the time she told Jayne, “I can kill you with my brain.”
- I’m glad that more wasn’t made of the blue-hand men. Those gloves were more silly than scary.
