Tae Kwon Dorama

I have to admit that I haven’t been attending Kenpo Karate the last two weeks. This is not because I don’t like it or anything like that; it’s been because I’ve been unable to fully straighten or bend my left leg without pain on the inside (right side) of my left knee.

So when my Sensei called me last night, I assumed he was just checking to see if I would ever be coming back to class. I told him that I hadn’t been attending because I had been unable to walk without pain, and only recently was able to put any weight on it. I also explained that I had been injured during the lesson on throws, and he was very curious about who I had been partnered with.

When I told him who my partner was, he regretfully told me that the fellow had been asked to leave the dojo! Apparently the fellow had had some issues controlling his intensity in several other incidents (which is not uncommon with lower ranking students), and perhaps other students had been injured or made to feel uncomfortable. I was then told that I would get two weeks credited back to my account for time missed, woo hoo!

L2P

Last night was an eye-opening experience for me in World of Warcraft. When I rejoined the lands of Azeroth, my primary goal was to try my hand at tanking. In almost every other MMO setting, I have played a primary healer, or off-healer/support role. While this is a noble role (and my second highest character is indeed a priest), I really wanted to try my hand at the melee side of things. And until last night, I thought I was pretty decent at tanking; I had decent gear, I didn’t recklessly charge mobs, I was protection specced, etc. etc.

Last night, however, Velius formed up a party of level 60’s to help me out with one of the higher end instance dungeons, Stratholme. I was a little worried that my Gnomish warrior, Rozamystica (btw, I saw a level 60 Night Elf rogue named Suiseiseki later that night) was a bit low of the instance at 57, but hoped that it would work out since the rest of the party was level 60, and my healing was in the capable hands of Velius’ paladin, Lans. This notion was quickly dispelled.

New Mouse

I’d been using the Microsoft Optical Mouse that Bunky got me as a gift (had to have been about 4-5 years ago), and it was time for a change. After reading the favorable review of the Logitech G7 at Tom’s Hardware (note the test game used), I decided that I wanted a G7. The idea of using laser tracking really intrigued me, as the Microsoft Optical Mouse occasionally had poor tracking. Also, I badly wanted a cordless mouse, since the cord was forever getting in the way while gaming. I had had a cordless mouse before (non-optical, it was my mouse prior to the Microsoft mouse), and eventually had to ditch it due to the wireless router’s interference with the RF signal, but Tom’s Hardware mentioned that the G7 was not plagued with this problem, and indeed, I have yet to make the signal fail.

In fact, the tracking is even better than I anticipated. On the highest DPS setting, the mouse was actually too sensitive for me, and even on the medium setting, I am learning to adjust my timing to the precision of the mouse. The G7 has a nice heft to it (a bit heavier than a normal mouse), and it glides really smoothly on my mousepad. Even better, I was surprised to find that I got the G7 that looked like this, slick all-black instead of the somewhat ugly green that I was expecting.

Ouran Host Club

Haha, what the heck, I still draw? This is the long overdue 4000 gift art piece, where everyone voted for an Ouran Host Club piece. I was originally gonna leave it as a B&W piece, but Ender kept pestering me, and I was so scared he would do something horrible in MS Paint again, that I toiled to quickly color the lineart. The layout of the piece is SO BAD, but I needed to fill space quickly.

Totally Worth It

I picked up some multi-vitamins this afternoon (woo $2 off with Bunky’s discount card!), which I haven’t had in over a decade. It made my pee look like highlighter fluid.

On a Scale of 1 to 10

As per ADscion’s comment, I tried out some falafel today for lunch, and it was indeed quite tasty. I think it was a standard falafel concoction, with the falafel tucked into some flatbread, and covered with lettuce, thinly sliced pickles, tahini sauce, and a spicy tomato relish. It had a different texture than I was expecting, and I have to admit that falafel is not the most visually appealing food out there. Still, it tasted very good, and had a great aftertaste as well.

At the place where I ordered the falafel, I had to wait a while while the dish was being prepared. However, not everyone had to wait as long as I did. These two Egyptian residents (as in the hospital type) seated next to me were served their falafel super quickly, and given all kinds of extra condiments. I may just be cynical, but I think it had something to do with the fact that one of the girls was rather… busty, and had on a revealing top.

All the staff kept coming by their table and asking how everything was. One came by to tell them how fresh the ingredients were. Another asked the star resident how she liked the shishkabob. When she only answered with “it was good”, she was then pressed to rate the shishkabob on a scale of 1 to 10. It was an orz-worthy moment when she and her friend agreed that “good” only merited a 7 on the scale. Several conversations later, someone even came around and specifically bussed their table (while smiling a huuuuuge smile), even though everyone else has to bus their own table and return their own trays. What the falafel?!
