As I was making the 7.5 hour drive up (made crazy time, as we took two 30-minute breaks), I had a moment with Bunky. I mentioned something about how we should make sure to get gas before we went back and she turned and said “We’re not going back…”
Wow, that could have been from a movie or something.
Aside from my confusion, it’s been a pretty good trip so far. The movers took their sweet time, as they told us they had nothing better to do that day. However, once we pumped their systems full of Mountain Dew, they started kicking it into high gear, and the stuff started flying down the 3 flights of stairs and into the moving truck. I guess those commercials were real… The stuff should come on Tuesday, and the closing is this afternoon.
Sydney was so nervous while the movers were over that he crapped himself, and then Bunky (in a mental relapse) tried to vacuum up the poop. Yeah, it didn’t work. Fortunately it was a really bad vacuum that we were planning on throwing away, only now we were really planning on throwing it away. I was glad that Sydney had taken the opportunity to empty himself before the trip, however, and then I forced him to chug some Calm Down liquid, and it really worked like a charm. The little guy was quiet and tipsy the whole trip (although he did this weird panting thing when he was nervous).
Of course, the moment I get a minute to log on this blog, I find that I’ve gotten over 100 spam comments that made it through both my spam filters. Fortunately, I have a mass-edit plugin for comments, so it wasn’t too hard to bring down the hammer.
Looks like the Wordpress 2.0 theme contest has finally been decided, and so congrats to all the winners! It was run pretty smoothly this time, and for the most part was punctual. However, I wasn’t really blown away by that many of the themes, as most of them seemed to be based on the same design, just with some aesthetic changes. However, I’ll have to look more closely to see if there is a good candidate for replacing this Regulus theme, since it doesn’t really work right in Internet Explorer, and even on Firefox, I dislike the theme more and more every day.
Finished my last day of work, and I’m packing like crazy. Or watching Bunky pack like crazy. Movers come on Thursday and the closing on the condo is on Friday afternoon. Probably won’t be many updates for about a week, since I am not sure how long it will be before I have regular internet again.
I’m not looking forward to the drive up, or unpacking all these many boxes…
Well, yesterday Bunky graduated from law school, and the ceremony was quite nice. Major props to her, but now she has to take a whole bunch of Bar prep classes, so it probably won’t sink in for a while.
I got my closest brush with a celebrity ever, as Sandra Day O’Connor gave an entertaining and deep commencement speech. Although many speculated that the Dean was a bit tipsy, I thought he was very entertaining (and thankfully brief) as well.
I even managed to survive my first experience with Bunky’s immediate and extended family together for long periods of time. My ability to space out was tested, but I think I came out on top. Unfortunately, Bunky’s complete slob of a little sister was her usual self, and now our apartment is crawling with ants from all the crumbs and trash left on the floor. It’s ok this time, since we’re moving at the end of the week, but I’m calling on Bunky to lay the smackdown if the next visit is this messy (even though I know she won’t do anything, and I’ll have to say something, making the situation all awkward).
