Taking Shape

It’s been a whole lotta waiting on hold the last few days, but now we have a landline too. It’s weird having a regular phone again, in this day of cell phones, but this way we can buzz people in from downstairs. Plus it’s possible that Bunky may eventually need to be sending faxes and such eventually. Either way, the apartment is really starting to take shape. So much of our old stuff has gone to the dumpster, and even old lamps have gotten dressed up with new shades. I’m really happy with how it’s turning out, and the big quest right now is to find bar stools that aren’t too expensive, but look great next to the new counter.

Finally, Internet!

It took 2 hours, as things kept going wrong, but now we have Digital Cable and Broadband Internet again. Bunky has never had Digital Cable before, and is enthralled, as we got a DVR set, and I’m just happy to be able to blog again.

One Last Night

Man, life without furniture is terrible! Spent last night sleeping on the floor, and it felt rock hard. Tonight calls for another night dozing on carpet, but the movers are scheduled to arrive tomorrow afternoon. Currently the condo has only one chair in it; one of those fold-out camping chairs.

We won’t get internet or digital cable until Sunday (ughhh), but at least once everything arrives it will be a little less boring. There’s not even anything to put away now, and so I’m just sitting in Panera with Bunky’s laptop, scamming on all their bread samples and free wireless internet. I’m missing all the season finales of shows, and NBA playoff games and it’s killing me!

Highs and Lowes

I finally got to see the new condo, and it looked great! It wasn’t done when we saw it over Spring Break, and for some reason it looked a lot larger this time. The kitchen is by far the coolest area, as it has these awesome little lights, a great large counter, and very nice appliances. Bunky and I are going to put our small dining table outside on the patio, so we can set up stools at the counter instead.

Of course there were a few problems with the place that we hope will get fixed soon. The stovetop doesn’t work for some reason, and one kitchen wall was not painted. There were also a few places that need to have the paint touched up. We’re planning to make a major trip to Lowes today to buy lots of stuff we need, so it should be a busy (but fun) day.

The weather here has been Ithaca-dreary, all clouds and rain. I think the main thing I will miss about Williamsburg is the constant beautiful weather!
