Brain Gender

If you have some time, check out this awesome quiz to discover your brain gender (related articles here). The experience felt like one of those wacko psych experiments that Bunky always went to at Cornell (for extra credit and/or cash). I don’t feel like putting down all my scores, so here is a general summary of how it went:

Overall: I scored about a 25, so I guess my brain is slightly Male.

Part 1:

  • Angles: I came up middle of the road, matching the average male score. Dang, I feel like I let myself down on this one.
  • Spot the Difference: Hahahahahaha, OMFG I bombed this one big time. This might explain why my sense of direction is teh suxxor.

Part 2:

Part 3:

  • Empathising: Not too good, but ever so slightly above the male average. This does not surprise me at all.
  • Systemizing: I wasn’t that good at this one, but I still matched the average score for women.
  • Eyes: I got almost all of them right! So does this mean I am skilled at empathizing, but simply choose not to? Apparently “people usually perform better than they expect to on this test.”

Part 4:

  • Fingers: I didn’t measure all that carefully, and so my ratio on the right is like a woman’s and my ratio on the left is like a man’s. However, the ratios are so close, that this test doesn’t seem very… handy.

Part 5:

  • Faces: I prefer more feminine faces. Rock on! The description goes on to note that, “A typical ‘attractive’ female face possesses features such as a shorter, narrower, lower jaw, fuller lips and larger eyes than an average face.”

Part 6:

  • 3D Shapes: Owned, perfectly. This section was so easy, suggesting I have a mind like a male engineer.
  • Words: I got enough to qualify for a female brain, but most people (male and female) scored more than me…
  • Ultimatum: I demanded £49/50. Well, do you want that £1 or not?

All in all, very interesting! Now if you’ll excuse me, my brain and I have some manly things to do and eat. After which, we’re getting brainicures.
