Yet another sweet new development: Google Blog Search has been unveiled! I never really liked clunky Technorati, and once more Google seems poised to control what we find and what we think. I like that it seems to give higher weight to more recent posts. Of course there are plenty of issues to be ironed out and the index is kinda weak at the moment, but it’s looking good so far.
I used it to search for a number of topics, and here’s some of the blogs I found:
- Pittsburgh
- AntiRust: A clever title, with some local news and gripes.
- Pittsburgh Dish: More local happenings for yinz.
- Cat Trees
- Strayer: The life and times of a feral cat trapper. Not sure what it has to do with “cat trees,” but it makes for strangely intriguing reading.
- Patisseries
- la.foodblogging: Beautiful photos of food that is too far away for me to eat T__T.
- Our Patisserie: Just loading the images causes you to gain 15 lbs. The worst parts are the pictures of the cake having been sliced, and then the closeups of the aforementioned slice. And by “worst” I really mean “best”.
- Kabitzin Fanclub
- No Results: WHY?!?!
So, as you can see, the index and search still need some work, but it’s a fun tool for when you just want to read about a certain subject and aren’t feeling too finicky.
No related posts.
Ummm, that blog search is actually really good. I typed in Kabitzin and Velius and both of our blogs instantly came up.
I used it to find a blog called Random Ravings which is written by some guy in Australia. The scary thing is that it looks practically identical to Velius’s.
Damn, Velius needs to get a kitten so he can stop making up these “other people”.
