I’ve been watching Season 2 of The O.C. on DVD, and it’s been surprisingly good! Having never marathoned anything but anime, it was definitely a different experience. The lack of commercials can be jarring and is kinda confusing at first. Anyway, from what I’ve seen so far, I can totally understand why people like the show, and now I feel like I need to catch the new season and also watch the first season, arggggg. The one thing that really stands out is how they try to have every episode have a mortifying situation that just makes you absolutely squirm in your seat. I feel especially bad for Lindsay who gets shafted almost every episode, but the fact that she doesn’t get a snippet in the OP makes me figure she’ll be written off the show after season 2 (I haven’t finished all the episodes yet).
So far I like Kirsten and Sandy the most, although Ryan’s ok (though a bit bland) and Seth is good for an occasional laugh. I’m not a huge Marissa fan, and Julie is a terror. I also feel that Zack is a big faker…
So I spotted this little quiz on Laine’s site, and here’s what I got:

Nooooooes! Although I never actually had a problem with Norfolk while I was there, except with the traffic. Plus, this test was pretty vague. For reference’s sake, here’s a review of Pittsburgh. There weren’t any on Williamsburg.
From what I’ve heard from Bunky, the review seems to be pretty accurate…

Isn’t it about time we got a Dance/Sing Off to determine who gets to keep the name “Lacus Clyne”? The whole Meer thing reminds me of that MTV show where people get plastic surgery to look like a celebrity. Except Meer takes it to a whole new level. I know I skipped “Wisdom”, but I was pretty excited to do even more GSD fanart, and the idea just hit me tonight. Lacus came out a bit taller and scrawnier… and they don’t really look that much like each other. Maybe if I sketched them both in the same color it would be a closer resemblance.
I was originally going to have Lacus flipping Meer the bird with her left hand, but I forgot.
I saw this blurb today about how AOL was fined for making it so hard to cancel their service, and I was extremely pleased. This reminds me of an incident I had with Earthlink several years ago.
I had grabbed one of those free-for-3-months CD’s to sign up for Earthlink one summer when I didn’t have internet. Since I was just on summer break, and would have T3 once I returned for the fall semester, it seemed like the perfect deal. The service was good, and more importantly it was free; however, when I returned to campus and tried to cancel my service, that’s when the happy times ended. I made several attempts in between classes to cancel and was never able to get through to a customer service representative. As I drew close to the time when I would have to pay for a service I was no longer using, that’s when I decided to go all in and make a stand. The service number was toll free, and damnit I was going to stay up all night if I had to. And that’s pretty much what I did…
In preparation for the siege, I busted out my hands-free headset for my phone, lots of snacks, and several DVDs that I had wanted to watch (sadly, I think this took place on a Friday T__T). Between the hours of 10:00 PM and 4:00 AM, I lay siege to their help desk. Before long, I got pretty good at watching movies with most of my attention, and allocating a small amount of mental resources to listening to the hold music (which I remember was pretty good). I was getting started on my fourth DVD when their resolve finally broke! Once I actually got through, it was easy to cancel my service. The lady on the phone was very polite, but the conversation ended like this:
Kabitzin: You know, it’s really hard to reach your customer service. I was on hold for over 6 hours. Did I do something wrong?
Customer Representative: Well sometimes we experience high call volumes. You should try during non-peak hours.
Kabitzin: Er, well it’s 4:15 AM now… When exactly are your non-peak hours?
Customer Representative: 5-6 AM
[long silence]
Customer Representative: Ah… [nervous laughter] I’m very sorry sir.
Yes, victory never tasted so sweet.
