Yesterday I got a chance to finally use my new purchasing card. I felt pretty important as I went to Kinkos to order some pamphlets; I whipped out my new card and proudly represented my company! The sheer radiance of the new card was undeniable, and the silver lettering was so new and shiny that the Kinkos girl had a tough time reading the numbers and the name. She kept saying over and over “It’s so bright, I can’t read it!” as she held it at various angles and beheld its magnificence. Needless to say, I was quite pleased =).
Also, I have written several times about the victories of Bayesian spam filters, but AOL’s recent seizing of a spammer’s Porsche (which it then raffled) is just as satisfying. Oh, nice idea!
On the electrical devices front, I had a spectacular weekend. First off, I finally got a full-sized refrigerator! The last setup in the cottage was a 3′ tall fridge and a 2′ tall refrigerator that had been converted into a mini-freezer. Not ideal, especially when the larger unit died. But those days are over, and now there is a full sized fridge that is fully stocked with goodies. I’m very happy about this, and I can’t wait to start cooking again! The George Foreman grill has just been aching to knock some fat out, too.
I didn’t want to be the only one benefiting from the invention of electrical devices, so I shared the wealth by buying a fluorescent fish lamp for the larger tank. The light is much more even throughout the tank now, and it penetrates the water further. Plus the heat given off by the lamp is considerably lower to ensure that during the summer the fish won’t have to sweat it. The only problem is that lamp has kind of a purplish tinge, so I’ll probably have to get it replaced with a new tube soon. The fish look even better under this light than the hard incandescent bulbs and I’m happy with the result.
As seen from the post below, I finally got to kill the Bastok Dragon after a week of futility.
Finally, the biggest news was that this afternoon, I came back to see that the Canon Powershot S400 is finally back in stock!!! I immediately bought it of course, and got my $100 off =). I can’t wait to get the camera and post some pics!
The weather has been simply gorgeous, and even I couldn’t find an excuse to stay inside all day. So yesterday I finally started exercising again, as I went on a 30-minute jog. I porked out big time this winter like a hibernating bear, so I know I need to take it a little at a time, or risk supreme disappointment. My goal is to jog until I feel fit enough to go back to the gym for pickup basketball and more running.
I’m playing the waiting game with Amazon, cause the camera I want (the Canon Powershot S400) is currently out of stock. Curses! You’d think they’d hurry up and get more of their best-selling 4MP digital camera…
The cardinals and mockingbirds are out in full force, both in the courtyard at work (right next to my desk!) and in front of the cottage. It’s like an avian choir =).
