So I have to admit I have sorta been swept back into Harry Potter fandom, and I was browsing various Harry Potter fanart sites. I absolutely love Hanapota because Hana totally brings to life some of the most memorable moments of the Harry Potter series. I agree wholeheartedly with her that Ron and Hermoine are perfect for each other; with the amount they argue, they’re practically an old married couple already ^-^. Other fanartists agree with this idea as can be seen from the RONHA SPRING LOVE BATTLE! I can’t read Japanese either but the site is fairly simple to navigate. On a side note, I always figured Ron to be a bit goofy looking from the books and the movies but everyone else draws him as pretty good looking! Ron the bishonen…
Speaking of good stories, I recently enjoyed Same Difference and Other Stories by Derek Kirk Kim. It’s a collection of short stories told in sort of a b/w comic book form. The art is very good and the stories are very enjoyable true life tales.
Yesterday I went running for the first time in about 2.5 years with one of my roomates. We did about 2.2 miles and I was pretty proud of myself because I really felt I could have gone faster and done at least another mile or two. Unfortunately as soon as we got a mile out it started pouring rain. There was some kind of siren blaring a warning in the streets and the roads looked like those rivers you have to cross in that old computer game Oregon Trail. I was so soaked I wrung my shirt out over my plants to water them.
I’ve been intrigued about the idea of skinning my blog because I can’t help but feel that the default templates offered are rather… bland. I’ve been looking at BlogSkins.com and the skins stored there to get a better idea of how the process works. Fortunately I already have an understanding of HTML and CSS so I think I may be able to whip something up. I want to update my site as well at some point, but that would take way more work and I’m too lazy for that now. I’m hoping for something a little more on the simple side that is easy to read. For those of you who woud like an intro tutorial to blog skinning, there is one here.
Well, I finished the latest Harry Potter book and I can’t wait for the next one! I really thought the character development was excellent in this one and helped move the occasionally slow plot tremendously. I was so motivated I even did a piece of Hermione Granger fanart. She always seemed like such a uppity brat before but she’s really becoming very knowledgeabe, wise, and good to have around. I don’t know why but the Dumbledore fight reminds me of the Yoda fight in Episode II. Something about old dudes with amazing abilities, I guess =).
I also picked up EVE: The Second Genesis today from EB. It took a little while before I could figure out wtf I was doing but I think I’m slowly shedding my n00b-iness. For help, EVE I:COM is a pretty good resource, especially the planning tools. Character creation was very fun, although some of the hairstyles are rather goofy. More character looks for the next patch!
